Terms of Use
Last updated 25 October 2026
These terms apply to the Gerok website and service at gerok.app, provided by Aleksei Shlyk, Wallstraße 18, 10179 Berlin, Germany (“we”). How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
1. Gerok is new
Gerok is new and still growing. Features can change, break or be removed, and the service can be unavailable at times.
2. Who can use Gerok
You must be at least 18 years old. You sign in with your Google account, your Apple account, or an email address you’ve confirmed and a password, and are responsible for what happens in your Gerok account, including keeping your password to yourself.
3. Your content
What you record and write stays yours. You allow us to store and process it, including with the providers named in the Privacy Policy, only to provide Gerok to you. Your content is private; nobody else sees it.
Please don’t record or write content that is illegal, that violates someone else’s rights, or that reveals sensitive details about other people without their permission.
If you have a copy of your voice made to read your stories, it must be your own voice: never record someone else for it. You can delete the copy at any time on its page.
4. AI-generated content
Where Gerok uses AI, for example for German retellings, exercises, pictures, voices or feedback, the results are made for learning and can contain mistakes. They are not professional, medical, legal or official advice, and scores or level estimates are not certificates of your German.
5. Fair use
Don’t misuse Gerok: don’t try to get around its limits or security, overload it, copy it, extract content from it automatically, or use it to generate content that is illegal or harmful. We may block requests that break these rules.
6. Plans and price
Gerok is free to use within daily limits: a story a day, with its German, its voice and its whole learning path, and a set number of role-play answers and shadowing tries. The limits are shown on the Gerok Plus page and start afresh at your midnight.
Gerok Plus raises them and adds pictures of your stories and having them read in your own voice, for the monthly or yearly price shown before you pay. Polar (Polar Software, Inc.) sells Plus to you as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, issues the invoice and handles the tax, under its own terms, which you accept at checkout. Plus renews at the end of each period until you cancel it, which you can do at any time from your subscription page in Gerok; it then stays until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Your right of withdrawal and refunds follow Polar’s terms as the seller.
7. Contact points and reporting content
Our single point of contact for users and for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act is support@gerok.app, in English or German.
To report content in Gerok you believe is illegal, write to that address with where you saw it, why you think it is illegal, your name and email, and a statement that your report is accurate and complete. We confirm receipt, decide carefully and without delay, and tell you our decision. If we remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you why and how you can challenge the decision.
In a chat with a friend, you can also report them to us from their menu (open their name at the top of the chat), saying why, and block them, which removes them, deletes your chat with them, and keeps either of you from inviting the other again.
8. Ending
You can stop using Gerok at any time and delete your account, under Delete account in your account’s settings, or by writing to privacy@gerok.app. Gerok Plus then stops renewing, and stays paid for until the end of its period. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
9. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaching an obligation essential to the contract, whose fulfilment makes the service possible and on which you may rely, and then only for damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract. Otherwise our liability for slight negligence is excluded.
10. Changes
We may update these terms, for example when Gerok gains new features or the law changes. We tell you on gerok.app or by email before significant changes take effect.
11. Law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live.
